Livonia Porchfest – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Livonia Porchfest?
Livonia Porchfest is built as a free, grassroots neighborhood music festival where front porches, driveways, yards, perhaps barns and other outdoor spaces become stages for live music. Local musicians perform throughout the community, and attendees stroll from porch to porch enjoying a wide variety of performances while connecting with neighbors.
When is Livonia Porchfest?
Livonia Porchfest takes place on Saturday July 11th from 12 noon to 5:00 PM in the Village of Livonia. Plan to spend the afternoon walking through the neighborhood, enjoying music, and spending time with friends and neighbors.
What kind of music will I hear?
We hope that you will hear a wide variety of genres and styles performed by artists of all ages and experience levels, including folk, acoustic, rock, pop, jazz, blues, R&B, hip hop, bluegrass, Americana, and more. Again, as this year 1 we will not know for sure until July, but we hope there is something for everyone at Porchfest.
How do I sign up to play music?
If you are a musician or band, visit the Livonia Porchfest website and complete the “I Have a Band” registration form. Bands typically play one-hour sets, and if you do not have a pre-arranged home to play at in the Village, the Porchfest team will assign performance locations and times. If you do not have a porch to perform on, you will be matched with a host location.
How do I host a porch?
If you live in the Village of Livonia and would like to host, complete the “I Have a Porch” form. You may request a specific band or be matched with one. Hosts should provide access to electricity and, if possible, some shade or cover. Driveways, yards, garages, barns and patios can also serve as performance spaces.
What happens if it rains?
Livonia Porchfest will take place rain or shine. Hosts should plan to provide a covered porch or canopy to protect performers and equipment from the weather.
Can bands choose their own set time?
To keep the event organized and prevent overlapping performances within close proximity, set times and lengths will be assigned by the Porchfest team. Bands are expected to adhere to their scheduled time.
Where can I find the schedule and map?
A full map and performance schedule will be posted approximately one to two weeks before the event on the Livonia Porchfest website so attendees can plan their route.
Is there a cost to attend? Do the musicians get paid?
Livonia Porchfest is a volunteer-powered community event. Musicians, hosts, and organizers donate their time. Performers are welcome to accept tips and may sell merchandise. Homeowners are welcome to pass a hat, too, but the event is structured as a free festival.
Can I buy Porchfest merchandise?
Official Livonia Porchfest merchandise such as t-shirts and posters will be available in the run-up to the event, and on the day of the event while supplies last at the main event hub at Main Street and Commercial.
How can I support Livonia Porchfest?
You can support Porchfest by becoming a sponsor, making a donation, volunteering, hosting a porch, or performing. Community support helps keep the event free and accessible. “We are proud to support the Livonia Porchfest” family sponsor signs will be available soon for a $50 donation. General sponsorships are available for $200 and those individuals and businesses will be recognized throughout the event and on all merchandise and marketing materials.
